Found in the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument near Mountainair, New Mexico, Quarai was originally occupied by Anastasi then Pueblo Indians prior to the mid 1600's, when Spaniards came to the area and established Christian missions. Due to drought, famine and raids by Apache Indians the pueblos and missions failed.
