Old Grand Canyon Depot
The Grand Canyon Railroad runs from Williams, AZ to the Grand Canyon and back. In 1901 the first passengers arrived at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. In 1968 the Santa Fe Railroad stopped service due to the decline of rail travel and the increase in automobiles. In 1989 limited service returned in the form of excursion trains from Williams, not associated with the Santa Fe. Today the National Parks Service maintains the depot. 8-09
