The original Navajo Bridge which opened in 1929 on the left is now a walking bridge, and the newer one to the right, which was built in the same pattern only wider and stronger, now accomodates the road traffic over the Colorado River east of the Grand Canyon.At the time of its construction, the historic Navajo Bridge was the only bridge crossing the Colorado River.
