Overlooking Albuquerque
Taken from Sandia Crest, elevation 10,640 ft. overlooking Albuquerque, New Mexico on a rainy, cold day in July, 2008. "Sandia" means "watermelon", and the Indians named this crest and peak Sandia because of the pink color of the quartz rock when the sun shines on it. There is a popular ski resort up on Sandia Peak.
