Ancient lava flow from Mt. Taylor in western New Mexico spreads as far as the eye can see.It is now dotted with hardy Pinon Pine trees. I am standing on the edge of the Narrows Rim Trail above the lava. The Narrows is located between Grants and Quemado, New Mexico in the El Malpais National Conservation Area . July, 09
