Bright Angel Lodge
Built to blend in with the cliffs, the Bright Angel Lodge is a National Historic Landmark.Designed by Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter and built from logs and native stone, was opened in 1935. A dramatic wooden thunderbird, which Colter called "the bright angel of the sky", hangs above the mantelpiece of the lobby's huge fireplace. Grand Canyon south rim. Arizona 8-09
