Perched on the side of a Ponderosa Pine tree, this Acorn Woodpecker is a beautiful bird, though somewhat of a nuisance. It will peck holes in the sides of a log cabin to store acorns in for the winter. He also terrorizes the other forest birds who come to eat from the seed feeders and hummingbird feeders. This guy will even chase squirrels and chipmunks away!! Photographed in the mountain forest in Alpine, Arizona.
