The banded humming bird is carefully handed over to the adopter. This young girl will place her hand palm up and the handler will put this little bird in her hand. Holding very still she will allow the bird to fly away at its choosing. If she's lucky, or so they say, the hummer will urinate in her hand. This is considered very lucky...or maybe that's just the adults' way of keeping the kids from getting totally grossed out!! Arizona, 2009
