I have found these edible mushrooms in Arizona, Texas, and Norway but was surprised to find them in Tunis, Tunisia. They are edible only when young and fresh. They should be cooked (sauteed is nice with a little garlic). When older they begin to deteriorate into an inky cap...unedible at this point, as in the large speciman to the right of the image..
